This small navy blue glass necklace is made with a smooth dark blue Czech glass teardrop that has been wire wrapped by hand with sterling silver and featured on a sterling silver necklace. The sterling silver has been oxidized to contrast against the blue of the glass pendant.

I have sealed the oxidation on the silver with Renaissance wax. Cast in high purity Argentium 960, 100% recycled silver, this pendant measures 24mm x 14mm (15/16 x 9/16") and is set with a beautiful 8X6mm cushion cut Amethyst and two White Sapphire side stones.

This pendant was originally produced in gold as a versatile design to frame the main stone in a shape that not only circles it, but has enough depth to form a generous incorporated bail. To accommodate accenting side stones, two segments that pass at angles to each other are bridged with a hidden connection, allowing the stones to show themselves off, while also emphasizing the silver shapes that hold them.

AMETHYST: Amethyst is the most precious stone within the quartz group. It is the birthstone for February and the gemstone for the 4th, 6th and 9th wedding anniversaries. Country of origin is Brazil. Treatment: Traditional heat treatment.

WHITE SAPPHIRE: The colorless member of the sapphire family, white sapphires are a natural and affordable alternative to diamonds. More expensive than CZs, but far less expensive than diamonds and nearly as brilliant as both. A lovely, durable gemstone and the birthstone for September.

ARGENTIUM SILVER is a special alloy, verified as the most tarnish resistant made, but an occasional simple wipe with a soft cloth, and tucking the piece into the provided, protective pouch will further enhance its natural aversion to tarnish. What is Karen Hill Tribe Silver?
Karen Hill Tribe Silver is a high purity silver (97%-99%) that will not tarnish as readily as sterling silver (92.5%). These fair trade beads are handcrafted by Karen Hill Tribe artisans in Thailand.

The Karen Hill Tribe is the largest of the 6 principal hill tribes of Thailand. Historically the Karen tribe relied primarily on opium cultivation as their main source of income. In the early 1960's, the King & Queen of Thailand decided to help the Karen people develop an alternative to growing opium as their main source of income by teaching them a a new skill. Silversmiths were brought in to teach Karen farmers the art of jewelry and bead making using fine silver. These techniques are now passed down to each generation, enabling them to use their craft to sustain the tribe as a whole.

Most natural gemstones have smaller drill holes. These tiny briolettes are easier to work with using dead soft wire. Use 28 or 30 gauge wire to work with these stones. Beading wire .012 -.016 diameter should work for stringing.

The iridescence of this real blue morpho butterfly wing pendant necklace is unbeatable! This magnificent necklace is handmade from a REAL Morpho Zephrytis Butterfly wing under a large magnified glass cabochon. The glass cabochon measures 30x22mm. The butterfly wing is set in your choice of a vintage style antique gold or antique copper setting with sparkling clear Swarovski crystals.

The Morpho Zephrytis Butterfly is the most metallic and iridescent of all the Morpho butterflies. The Morpho Zephrytis is rather rare and found only in Peru & Bolivia. It is also known as the “blue mother of pearl morpho”. The wings are an intense aqua blue that reflect and shimmer under light. The color in the butterfly's wings is caused by the diffraction of the light from millions of tiny scales on its wings. It uses this to frighten away predators, by flashing its wings rapidly.

The sterling silver platform and fine silver bezel are hand formed and both shined to an extremely high polish. All bezels are decorated by hand engraved milgrain.

Main stone is 5mm 0,58Ct natural Mozambique Red Garnet.

Clarity: VS-VVS, Color: Red, Luster: Excellent, Origin: Mozambique, Hardness: 7-7,5.

Surrounded stones are natural, ice blue white round cut sapphires, each has 2,5mm diameter, total carat weight 0,16Ct.
