The "Persephone" earrings feature large and luminous baroque pearls, topped with an array of precious and semi precious gemstones. Exquisite and petite hot pink and deep blue sapphire briolettes and rondelles, along with carved leaves of vesuvianite, create a beautiful and colorful bouquet on top of the pearls. They are classically beautiful, but with a fun twist. Definitely not your grandmother's pearl earrings!

*What is vermeil? Vermeil must meet the FTC standard of 100 millionths of an inch (2 ½ microns) of fine gold layered over sterling silver. In order for a piece to be labeled legally as "vermeil", the item must not be less than 10 karat gold and have a substantial thickness, with a minimum thickness of 2 ½ microns.    A Vermeil piece of jewelry is made entirely of precious metals, which gives the piece an intrinsic value.

*Is "vermeil" the same as "gold plate"? Absolutely not! In contrast to vermeil, which is a regulated layer of gold (a minimum of 2 ½ microns) over a precious metal…sterling silver, "gold plating" is a miniscule layer of solid gold applied to a brass base. The plating does not compose any measurable proportion of the product’s total weight, and is estimated to be 0.05% or less of the metal product. Gold plating will wear off rather quickly and expose the brass base product.

*How to care for vermeil jewelry: While vermeil jewelry may tarnish (the base is sterling silver, a precious metal that tarnishes!), it is easily cleaned and will remain beautiful, if cared for properly. For starters, I recommend storing your artisan jewelry in the box provided to you when you purchased your jewelry, or you can store it in an airtight bag, such as a Ziploc. This is a trick I learned years ago while being employed at a hand crafted jewelry boutique, where I got my start! Exposure to the elements (including humidity, pollution, dust, etc) will dull ALL jewelry, so keep your treasures looking beautiful by wiping gently with a dry, soft jeweler's cloth. Please, NO harsh chemicals, as it may not only damage the vermeil, but some gemstones, as well. In addition, perfume and hair spray should be applied PRIOR to putting on your jewelry (again, this goes for ALL jewelry, not just vermeil!). Finally, never, ever bathe or swim while wearing your jewelry.

Vermeil and gold filled are beautiful and affordable alternative to solid gold, and will retain its beauty, if cared for properly. However, if solid gold is your preference, please contact me for a custom order and pricing!

Genuine Blue Sapphire Sterling Silver Ring September Birthstone

Lost wax cast Sterling Silver ring with a Genuine Sapphire gemstone.

Size: 6 3/4

This ring can be sized, free of charge, upon purchase.

I mix the metal for casting myself. My Sterling Silver is a mix of 92.5% Fine Silver with 7.5% Copper alloy to aid in the melting process. My Copper pieces are alloyed with Sterling Silver to make them a little more hypoallergenic. I never use Nickel in my castings. All of my metal is purchased from Rio Grande in New Mexico or from Stuller in Louisiana.

Most of the gemstones that I use are upcycled, which means they may have small scratches or scuffs. Upcycling allows me to offer fantastic gemstones at prices that make them attainable for everyone. Many of my ring molds are of vintage/antique rings which allows me to offer a modern ring with a distinct vintage look.

All purchases come in an anti-tarnish pouch to protect each piece from oxidation when not being worn. All handmade items are stamped with my custom makers mark.

I ship USPS first class with tracking and insurance for Domestic U.S. shipments only. Generally items are shipped within 1 or 2 business days of ordering and arrive within 4 business days. Priority Mail 2-Day Shipping is available for additional purchase.

For all non-US orders, including Canada, I ship via USPS First Class Mail International. There is no way to track international first class mail packages once they leave my hands. Delivery times for international packages vary; the average is between 7 and 30 business days. Priority Mail 6-10 Business Day Shipping is available for additional purchase.

Some countries apply import taxes and customs fees on all packages over a certain price coming into the country. I do not know if your country will charge you or what the fee might be. Classic Blue Sapphire Engagement Ring Solid Platinum Tear Drop Shape

Sapphire rings are my absolute favorite and this ring does not disappoint!

Elegant and sophisticated, this blue sapphire ring will be your "something blue" heirloom piece that is passed down for generations to come. An approximately 7x5.4mm sapphire is prong set in solid platinum on a 2mm band. The sapphire is approximately 1.0cttw. The setting is simple and substantial, and could be paired easily with a band for a wedding set. This ring is in excellent condition.

The sapphire is the real show stopper of this piece. It is a gorgeous color medium blue with a hint of purple in some light. This is a beautiful quality stone. The six prong setting really lets the color of this sapphire be seen from all angles. The tear drop shape is also quite lovely with the setting. The stone sits about 6mm off of the finger making it stand out. You couldn't ask for a more gorgeous classic ring.

The ring is currently a size 4.5, but could be easily sized. weight 4.6g
