Originally, I designed this piece to hold the gemstone in an added head. Then, wanting to set a round stone which was just a bit too large to be set that way, it struck me that it would fit perfectly if the head was taken out of the picture to let a spring structure in the design itself hold the gem. The result is the stone becoming an intimate part of the piece in this tension setting.BLUE TOPAZ: The beautiful blue of this stone is created by enhancing white topaz through the use of heat and irradiation. There are several shades of blue topaz , including Sky, Swiss and London. It is one of December’s birthstones along with Zircon and Tanzanite.WHITE SAPPHIRE: The colorless member of the sapphire family, white sapphires are a natural and affordable alternative to diamonds. More expensive than CZs, but far less expensive than diamonds and nearly as brilliant as both.
