Originally, I designed this piece to hold the gemstone in an added head. Then, wanting to set a round stone which was just a bit too large to be set that way, it struck me that it would fit perfectly if the head was taken out of the picture to let a spring structure in the design itself hold the gem. The result is the stone becoming an intimate part of the piece in this tension setting.RHODOLITE GARNET: A beautiful raspberry colored gem, the rich hue of rhodolite garnet has undertones of rose and plum. Sri Lanka, India and East Africa are primary sources for rhodolite. Garnet is the birthstone for January. Treatment: None.WHITE SAPPHIRE: The colorless member of the sapphire family, white sapphires are a natural and affordable alternative to diamonds. More expensive than CZs, but far less expensive than diamonds and nearly as brilliant as both.
