Sapphire Gemstone Art Print, September Birthstone, archival 5" x 7" print of my own original illustration.
I was a rockhound since early childhood and studied these earth beauties until I eventually became a GIA Graduate Gemologist. As an artist, I had been wanting to capture the beauty of the stones for a long while and finally began to immortalize their lovely colours, unique shine and mesmerizing structure on paper.
Sapphire is the name given to any corundum gemstone that's not coloured red (the red being called Ruby). Sapphire occurs in every colour but is especially prized in its deep, royal blue hues. In fact, 'sapphire' was historically a term used for many different blue gemstones, namely blue spinel. Corundum is one of the hardest known substances, so sapphire is not only beautiful but durable as well. Sapphire is the September birthstone.
Printed with archival ink on 5" x 7" archival fine art matte paper. There is a border of approximately 1.5 inches around the image.
Shipped carefully with a protective, rigid sleeve and padded envelope.
